Bath is a historic city with many beautiful buildings/streets and shops. It is not that big, so perfect for a short trip. We discovered the city based on a plan I had made a few days before we left.
Before going to Bath, we had a small stop in Amsterdam to catch our flight to Bath the other day. We got up early, around 4 am, and arrived in Bristol around 9 am. You can easily travel from Bristol Airport to Bath. When you arrive at Bristol Airport, you need to take a bus to Bristol City (A1 Airport Flyer bus to Bristol Temple Meads). Once there, you take the bus to Bath Spa.
The first thing I had to do was walk past the theatre :). That evening, we went to Lucie Jones' concert with The Fulltone Orchestra. It was a HUGE show. There were also two special guests. David Hunter better known as Dr. Pomatter in Waitress the musical and Helen Woolf who just played Glinda the good witch in Wicked along with Lucie Jones.
Five activities we did while we were in Bath City:
1. Bath Abbey
Just across from the Roman Baths, you have Bath Abbey. It is one of the most popular things to do when you are in Bath. This historical building was built in 1611. You can visit Bath Abbey or you can climb 212 steps to go to the observation desk.
2. Topping booksellers
An excellent place for book lovers just like me. Topping Bookseller has several stores. It is one of the most popular independent bookstores in the UK. They have over 75.000 books from all different genres. Throughout the year they are several events. For more information about the events go to the site of Topping Booksellers.
3. The Royal Crescent
30 terraced houses in a row are famous for their presence in the series Bridgerton. It is built in the 18th century and the architecture is fabulous. Close by The Royal Crescent, there is a park connected to it. If you are interested in history you can go inside of the houses. If you are not, you can take a walk in the park.
4. Pulteney Bridge
This bridge is one of the most famous romantic bridges in the world. For musical lovers, you will recognize this bridge from the popular movie Les Misérables. It is a beautiful place where you can stand all day.
5. Bath Quays Waterside (Park)
A lovely little park near the Lower Avon. Perfect for sitting when the weather is nice and having a small picnic. Bath Quays is a 3.8-mile walk (about 6 km). The park is close to the city.
